What a very special and beautiful Christmas Concert experience on Thursday evening! Our amazing children and simply fabulous Music Teacher, Mrs Rochelle Albert, presented us with a highly entertaining version of the Nativity story. Mr Alonzo has uploaded the video in portions so that you can watch your children in their particular scene. A very big thank you to all involved: Rochelle, of course, for her production prowess, Father Gorddard for his technical expertise, teachers for the seamless ‘backstage’ organisation of classes and parents for finding all those cute costume parts and being such a great audience! What a lovely way to gather together as a community at the end of a school year.
And, a heartfelt thanks to all of you for the kind words and gifts presented to me on the evening by Emma Taylor, on behalf of the P&F and school community. Thanks also for the lovely words of appreciation expressed and gifts received from the School Board Chair, Sarah Waddle, and our Assistant Principals, Katherine Kelly and Vlad Alonzo at the Thanksgiving mass last Wednesday. St John’s has such a special place in my heart. I consider myself privileged to have been able to serve this community for the past seven years and I thank you all for having supported me on that journey.
Speaking of very special Nativity plays, the Pre Primary Assembly held last Friday was also beautifully produced and very poignant! There are some photos overleaf that I am sure you will enjoy.
The children’s School Reports went online yesterday for the Pre Primary to Year 6 students. Do touch base with your child’s teacher should you have any queries about the report content.
We anticipate our School Magazine will be sent home this Wednesday to the oldest child in your family.
This week we bid farewell to our very industrious Year 6 students. We wish them well in their secondary school studies. We say adieu to those families leaving St John’s this year. Our best wishes to all of you. Thank you to everyone for a wonderful year.
Farewell and best wishes to Martha Pope on her retirement and to Trish Collins and Olivia Harnwell on their career changes. Late last week Velma Erskine and I had the pleasure of making two staffing appointments. Cath Godfrey was appointed to the Pre Kindy teacher role for Thursdays and Fridays, a role she is taking on in addition to her three Kindy days. Cath is very excited about her increase in time and being able to share her love of teaching across the two age groups. The second appointment was Eimear Durkin to the Admin. Assistant role, filling Martha’s shoes. Many of you may know Eimear as she has been a very involved parent here at St John’s for the past eight years, often to be found in the canteen or covering books in the library. Her son, Luke, graduates from Year 6 this year however Eimear will be back in January joining the office staff team. Congratulations to Cath and Eimear on your appointments.
Merry Christmas to all of you. I wish you a very happy, safe and peaceful holiday break.

St Vincent de Paul Society – Thank You!
On behalf of the St Vincent de Paul Society, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have given a gift of food for our Christmas Appeal.
We delivered these food hampers along with a present for each child to those families in our Community that are in need.
Through these generous gifts, we are able to share God’s love in the true spirit of Christmas to ensure these families will experience joy this Christmas.
Thank you and God Bless
