Dear Parents and Carers
What a fabulous fortnight of sunny winter weather we experienced for our mid year break. I hope everyone had a chance to take advantage of the amazing weather and that all our children are rested, eager to learn and are rid of their coughs and colds.
Welcome back, everyone, to Term 3, and a special welcome to our new students and their families. This week we welcome three new students into our Kindy class, one child into the Pre Primary class and one each into the Year 1 and 4 classes.
Congratulations to our four new Captains for Term 3. We wish you all the best for this term’s responsibilities.
During the break the builders have been hard at work doing the messy outside jobs such as the improvements to the drainage system. This undertaking was deemed a necessity within the Build project to prevent flooding in parts of the school, something that has been an issue in the past. You will without doubt notice the large drain installed/inserted in the pathway outside the north facing Kindy door and there has been some extensive excavating in the ECE grounds and Adventure Playground areas to ensure drainage heads on down the hill.
This week I write to you from Bali where I am enjoying a few days of Long Service Leave. Denise McGregor, our Social Worker, is also on LSL this week however we both return to school for Week 2. Katherine Kelly and Vlad Alonzo are the two people to touch base with if you have any concerns about anything in my absence.
You will quite possibly notice a new Work Experience placement student on site every Friday this term. She is a John XX111 Year 10 student and will be predominantly in the Year 5 class. Last term’s High School students, Josh and Jordan, were from Churchlands Secondary school and were mostly based in the Year 3 & 4 classes. These placements are a part of a Community Services – Education course although it has a different title in each of the colleges. Another secondary student, Jai, was on site every Thursday last term and he spent most of his time either with Ciaran Sanders supporting PE lessons or in Years 3-5.

TRASHLESS TUESDAY – Student Council
This term, we are going to be starting a TRASHLESS TUESDAY, which meas no rubbish is to be thrown out during recess and lunch times. TRASHLESS Tuesdays will be happening every Tuesday for the remainder of this year. We are aiming to reduce our use of plastics and we hope you can participate.
If you usually use plastic or cling wrap, you can think of using containers, metal spoons and forks, or use the wax wraps we made last year.
Remember to use the 3 Rs – REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE!!
Many thanks from the Student Council “arm” of the Sustainability Committee.
