School News

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is hard to believe that three quarters of the year has already passed and the end of the term is finally here! It has been an extremely busy yet rewarding term with many changes implemented to the ‘new normal’ school routine and many wonderful achievements noted with the numerous events planned within the school. Most importantly, however, has been the preparation and participation of the students in Year 4 in the Sacrament of First Eucharist and in Year 3 in the Sacrament of First Reconciliation. We congratulate these students once again on receiving these very special and sacred sacraments over the last few weeks.

It is appropriate at the end of the term to thank a number of people for their efforts and contributions over the past 10 weeks. It is important to recognise the tireless work and dedication of the St John’s Staff. The teachers and ancillary staff of this school are most professional in their approach to the development of the students within their care and the advancement of the school as a whole. We particularly thank Miss Jessica Boot who stepped into the Educational Assistant role in Year Two earlier this year. Jess has made a wonderful contribution to Year Two throughout the past six months sadly we farewell Jess today as she has been appointed Events Manager at Joondalup Resort. Thank you and congratulations Jess and we wish you every success for the future.

We are deeply appreciative of the numerous parents from the St John’s Primary School community who have offered their assistance and help to the students, staff and Leadership Team in some way over the term. This support is priceless and certainly assists in the overall operation of the school. Many thanks to all for your efforts.

Lastly, we applaud the students, who have worked productively in class to produce some quality work and pleasing results. Our students have also participated enthusiastically in the various academic and sporting pursuits over the term. Well done to you all.

Mrs Durkin has created a picture collage of photos which sums up the many and varied events throughout Term Three which are further down in the newsletter for your perusal.

SUMMER UNIFORM
Next term, all students move back into their Summer Uniform. Children are expected to wear their summer uniform from the beginning of Term Four. An essential part of the school uniform is a hat. The school rule is: ‘No hat, no play’. Please ensure your child has a school hat and that it is clearly labelled with your child’s name. We ask parents to please check the condition of your child’s uniform over the coming weeks.

Commencing Monday 12 October the St John’s Uniform Shop will be operated by Jenny Franklin Enterprise (JFE). The 24/7 online ordering will continue to operate as well as the shop being open one morning per week.

Please note the change in the shop opening days has moved from a Thursday morning to a Monday morning. The team at JFE are excited with this newly formed partnership at St John’s Primary School.

GRANDPARENTS’ LITURGY AND MORNING TEA (Week 3 Term Four)
On Tuesday 27 October, we will be hosting a Grandparents’ Liturgy and Morning Tea. This will no doubt be a very special morning for all grandparents to have the opportunity to share part of the school day with their grandchild/ren and to observe the learning that takes place in the classrooms. Please click on this LINK for an outline of the mornings program and forward the invite to your child’s grandparent/s.

TERM DATES
School commences for all students on Monday 12 October and will conclude for all students on Friday 11 December. A Term Four calendar is now available by clicking on the LINK and also available on the school website.

HOLIDAYS
No doubt, both staff and students are looking forward to a well-earned break. We pray that all families stay healthy and safe over the holidays, and return rejuvenated and revitalised in preparation for Term Four.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday.

God Bless

THE BEATITUDES OF A DIFFERENT KIND

Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves:
They will have no end of fun.
Blessed are those who can tell a mountain from a molehill: They will be saved a lot of bother.
Blessed are those who know how to relax without looking for excuses: They are on the way to becoming wise.
Blessed are those who know when to be quiet and listen: They will learn a lot of new things.
Blessed are those sane enough not to take themselves too seriously: They will be valued by those about them.
Happy are you if you can appreciate a smile and forget a frown: You will bring others to the sunny side of the street.
Happy are you if you can be kind in understanding the attitudes of others even when the signs are unfavourable: You may be taken for a fool but this is the way of the Gospel.
Blessed are those who think before acting and pray before thinking: They will avoid many blunders.
Happy are you if you know how to hold your tongue and smile, even when people interrupt and contradict you: The Gospel has begun to seep into your heart.
Above all,
Blessed are you who recognise the Lord in all whom you meet: The light of truth shines in your life for you have found true wisdom.
Amen
