St John’s School

School News

Dear Parents and Carers,

The final newsletter of the year is here! After what can only be described as a very different 2020, parents, children and staff will all be happy to see the back end of this year. Despite the many challenges and disruptions, we could not be prouder of how our community navigated COVID and the unprecedented effect it had on the children and families.

With only just over a week to go, there are some important notices below including Pupil Free Days and Term Dates for 2021.

The AGM took place last Wednesday and all reports from this presentation will be made available in the coming weeks on our website. Congratulations to Luke Willcock, Lisa Rutherford, Greg Wheeler, Mark Cunningham and Simon Youlton who join Richard Barrett, Grant Blake, Rob Pala, David Somers, Fr Grant and myself to form the School Advisory Council in 2021.

Reports will also be available at this stage from Monday next week. When discussing and sharing these with your child, celebrate the strengths and growth and also identify an area of focus for 2021. Please acknowledge the effort your child has put into each area not focusing on simply the grade.

2021 Step Up Day session will take place as planned on Monday 7 December, from 9.30am – 10.30am. The session will give the students from Kindy – Year 5 the opportunity to meet their 2021 teachers before the commencement of the new school year.

Congratulations to all the current Year 5 students who took part in the speeches for leadership positions in 2021. First Day Back!

A Picture tells a thousand words!

Year 5 Sleepover

Last Thursday night Year 5 had a class sleepover.  It was a night of fun. To start off we set up out beds and sleeping bags and then we all went down to the oval to play. When Mrs Kelly arrived with the dinner everyone sat in a circle and we ate Grill’d. We then played a fun game of Christmas trivia. After that we went on an amazing scavenger hunt we had to find the answer to a riddle. After the scavenger hunt we all had icy poles, popcorn and went back into the hall to watch a movie.
Eventually we went to bed and in the morning when we got up we went to the basketball court and played road blocks.  We were treated to a cooked breakfast and it was amazing.  In Friday it was a pretty chill day because we were all tired after our amazing sleepover!
