Dear Parents and Caregivers

Happy Birthday to Our Lady, Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
On Wednesday 8 September it was the birthday of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. We do not usually celebrate the birthdays of saints, instead we celebrate the day they died and because that is the day they are born into the joys of heaven. But the birthday of Mary, Our Mother, is an exception. We celebrate her birthday because she came into this world full of grace, and because she was to be the Mother of Jesus. Mary was an only child. She grew up loving God very much. As the mother of Jesus, she was at his side when he was born in a stable, she found Him when he was lost in the Temple, she was with Him when he was crucified on the cross and she was in the upper room when He rose from the dead at Easter.

St John’s Week
We have had a number of busy weeks and a few more yet to come as we head towards the end of term. Next week we will celebrate St John’s Week, a flyer outlining the week ahead has been emailed out to all families. Staff and students are very much looking forward to the annual mini fair stalls on Wednesday during St John’s Week along with participating in a fun tabloid sports afternoon on Friday. If you missed the flyer please click here to access 2021 St John’s Week Flyer (1)

Learning Journey Open Night
Our Learning Journey Open Night will be held Tuesday 14 September from 4.00pm to 6.00pm. Classrooms will be open for parents and carers to learn about the wonderful things that their children have been doing in class this semester. I hope all parents can drop in and see all the rich learning that has taken place. The School hall and Kindergarten room will have an Art Exhibition and the Multi-Purpose Room will be open with a Science display.

Catholic Performing Arts Concert
This year Catholic Education celebrates 200 years in Australia. The Massed Choir which the Year 5 class are participating in is singing two songs ‘Faith in the Future’ and ‘Hearts of Courage which were specially written to celebrate the bi-centennial of Catholic Education. CEWA has requested that we send representation for this very special event. With more than 1,500 students from Catholic schools across our state coming together at Perth’s RAC Arena next Monday, the Festival Concert is set to be a spectacular celebration of music, dance, and performance.

The concert will be hosted by former Mary’s Mount Primary School and Trinity College student turned Channel 7 presenter, Tim McMillan. The packed program will feature bands, instrumentalists, singers, and dancers for the culmination of the week-long Performing Arts Festival. We wish our Year 5 students all the very best.

Faction Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to all of our students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 for the way they enthusiastically participated in the Faction Athletics Carnival last week. It was wonderful to see the sportsmanship, perseverance, encouragement, fun and joy that permeated throughout the Carnival. A big thank you to Mr Sanders and the many other staff and parents whose work behind the scenes, and on the day, make these days such a success.

Thank You……
– Thank you to our P&F Pre-Primary Reps, Renee McIntosh and Suzi Lummis along with parent helpers Sarah White, Kaping Bahrani, Jhing Smith and Christine Barnett for coordinating this years Father’s Day Gift Stall. The children enjoyed the opportunity to buy a special gift for their dads.
– Thank you to all of the Dads, Step Dads and Grandads who attend the Father’s Day Breakfast last Thursday with their children and grandchildren, it was wonderful to see you there!
– A very special Thank You to the Year 6 Christian Ministry for leading the very reverent and touching Father’s Day Liturgy. I hope that all of our dads and granddads received an abundance of love on Father’s Day last weekend knowing just how precious it is to be a dad to your children.

Evacuation Drill
Please be advised that on Tuesday 21 September we will be undertaking a whole school Evacuation Drill. All students will be made aware that a drill will be performed on this day prior to the evacuation. If you are on the school grounds during an evacuation drill you are required to follow the direction of staff and make your way to the Assembly Area on the School Oval.

Thought for the Week:
“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”
Roald Dahl

Wishing you a wonderful week.
God Bless

Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves:
They will have no end of fun.

Blessed are those who can tell a mountain from a molehill:
They will be saved a lot of bother.

Blessed are those who know how to relax without looking for excuses:
They are on the way to becoming wise.

Blessed are those who know when to be quiet and listen:
They will learn a lot of new things.

Blessed are those sane enough not to take themselves too seriously:
They will be valued by those about them.

Happy are you if you can appreciate a smile and forget a frown:
You will bring others to the sunny side of the street.

Happy are you if you can be kind in understanding the attitudes of others even when the signs are unfavourable:
You may be taken for a fool but this is the way of the Gospel.

Blessed are those who think before acting and pray before thinking:
They will avoid many blunders.

Happy are you if you know how to hold your tongue and smile, even when people interrupt and contradict you:
The Gospel has begun to seep into your heart.
Above all,
Blessed are you who recognise the Lord in all whom you meet:
The light of truth shines in your life for you have found true wisdom.
