Dear God
Grant our Teachers an abundance of your wisdom. Prepare their hearts to welcome and love our loved ones.
And may we make sure to show the love and respect in return.
Give them grace as they help students who aren’t thriving. Courage to say what needs to be said.
Tools and knowledge on how and when to speak love.
And strength when they feel weak. When they feel unseen.
Remind them that no moment goes unnoticed. They are shaping the future in one million small – yet incredibly important – ways every day.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of learning they share with our children.
Bless them. Lord, and may they see even just a glimpse of how their faithfulness will forever impact generations to come.
Amen
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I hope that you have had a refreshing holiday and been able to enjoy some time away from the routines that school brings with it.
Term Four is always action packed and fun filled. We look forward to the fantastic learning opportunities and activities the children will participate in over the final term of the school year.
Term Four is also time of ‘celebration’, where we draw together all the learning from the year and celebrate our achievements. We also begin the transition from one school year to the next and so it is a time of ‘letting go’ and preparing to move on.
Year Three Commitment and Year Five Family Mass
Last Saturday, our Year 3 children along with their families attended the Commitment Mass in preparation on receiving the Sacrament of First Reconciliation. We congratulate our Year 5 families with their participation in Saturday’s Family Mass.
Welcome to our new families
We welcome Isabella, Oscar, Luis and their families to our school this term and hope they are warmly welcomed by our whole school community.
Annual Community Meeting
Our school ACM is coming up this term and now is the time to consider nominating for the School Advisory Council (SAC) for 2023. This group is a great way to become involved and support your school. A nomination form will be sent out to families in the coming weeks. Our ACM will take place on Tuesday 22 November at 6pm.
School Disco
I would like to thank our wonderful P&F for organising the upcoming Disco. It has been rescheduled to take place later in the term and we look forward to the event on Friday 18 November.
World Teachers Day
Friday 28 October it is World Teachers Day. It is a day to acknowledge the tireless work our teachers do for their students, whether through remote learning or face to face teaching.
World Teacher’s Day, provides us all with the opportunity to recognise and thank all staff for the job that they perform within our community and for our children in particular. Some suggestions of what could be acted upon include:
Students
• Send a thank you letter or card or just say ‘thank you’ to your teacher
• Reflect on the difference a teacher has made in your life
Parents
• Write a letter of thanks about your child’s teacher
• Reflect on the difference a teacher has made in your life
• Appreciate that your child’s education will open doors for him or her to achieve a better future
30 Years of Service to Catholic Education – Congratulations Mrs Brown
It’s with pleasure that I inform the community that Mrs Anne Brown was recently acknowledged for 30 Years of Service to CEWA.

Anne has held position of: Teacher, Team Leader of Health and PE Assistant Principal, Acting Principal, Head of House and Religious Education along with picking up additional roles of Canteen Manager, Bus Driver. Anne is a coach, mentor, listener, supporter, planner, doer and all with great care and compassion for everyone she works with.
We take this opportunity to thank Anne for her contribution to our school community and to our catholic school system.
All Saints Day – School Mass
All Saints Day Mass will be held in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Tuesday 1 November commencing at 8.30am. All parents, grandparents and family members are welcome to attend. Students will be required to be at school no later than 8.15am on this day.
Additional Dates to Remember
Our Grandparents Day has been rescheduled to Wednesday 30th November. Christmas Carol’s night will be held from 6pm onwards on Friday 2nd December. Thanksgiving and Year 6 Graduation Mass will be held on Tuesday 6th December at 9am. Graduation Dinner will be held on Thursday 8th December, and the school year for all children will conclude on Friday 9th December.
2023 Enrolments and Families Leaving
As mentioned in previous newsletters, the school undertakes the enormous process of preparation for the upcoming school year, it is important that we are aware of possible movements both in and out of the school community. The end of any school year is a busy time for many families insofar as transfers due to work or other personal circumstances. With position vacancies in some year levels quickly being filled and with waiting lists already resulting for particular areas of the school, it is essential that we are made aware as soon as is practicable of either new enrolments or of families who may be transferring. As per the school fee policy Parents are required to provide a full-term notice in writing if their child will not be returning the following year.

Year 4 Science
This week the students in Year 4 have been working hard on their understanding of Earth and Space Sciences. On Tuesday the students took a hands-on approach to determine the characteristics of the different soils/sands around the school grounds. They wrote down what type the soil was, what is felt like when wet and dry as well as well as determining whether or not it held water well. Great job Year 4 Scientists!
Jump Rope for Heart
We’re skipping through the term!
Jump Rope for Heart is well underway and it’s great to see so many children skipping with smiles on their faces. St John’s has already raised $1772.
Keep on practicing those tricks and don’t forget to share your online fundraising page with friends and family to raise money for a great cause!
Still need to sign up online? It’s easy just follow this link and enter your details.

Interested in where the funds go? Check out this video, Isla’s story. It’s also an inspiring example on how to overcome challenges and learning to skip just like Isla 😊
Let’s see if everyone can learn a new trick by the end of term. Have a look at the following videos for motivations to try something new!
