St John the Evangelist

To celebrate St John’s week, the Year 2 students explored various religious images of St John the Evangelist. The students looked at the iconology that was used to depict him in religious artwork.
An eagle was portrayed to remind us that St John taught us about God at a higher level.
The bible represents that he not only spread the Good News but he wrote the Gospel of St John.
St John has a halo to remind us of his holiness.

As our hook for Talk 4 Writing, year two students we used loose parts to create a habitat for a mythical creature named Luna. She has been writing class letters to our using invisible ink. Through play we were able to create, experiment with different materials, negotiate with others and let out imagination run wild! Hope you like your new habitat, Luna.

The Year 2’s and 4’s recently had their first buddy session.  The room was buzzing with excitement as the two classes came together. We spent a few minutes getting to know each other, followed by a big brainstorm. Our question was, ‘If you could build something with Lego, what would you build?’ We listened to lots of wonderful ideas and made plans for our Lego creations.

Castles

In Year 2 this week we have been designing and creating castles. First we designed our castle and created a list of resources that were needed to construct that castle. Next we used those resources to construct and decorate our castles. After that we tallied up the number of shapes that were used in our final product. We think that they look pretty amazing!!
